Alaska Summer Season – Fly Fishing at Hoodoo Lodge

From mid-June through the end of September, several of our guides head north to spend the summer season at Hoodoo Lodge, one of Alaska’s most remote and extraordinary fly fishing destinations. Tucked away on the remote Alaska Peninsula, this is a truly world-class fishery that belongs on every serious angler’s bucket list. At Hoodoo, we target all five species of Pacific salmon—king, silver, sockeye, chum, and pink—using both single-hand and two-hand rods, depending on the water and the species.

If you’re curious about joining us in Alaska or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Spots fill quickly each season, and we’re happy to help you explore if this incredible trip is right for you.

What Makes Hoodoo Lodge So Special

  • Unmatched Access: The lodge sits on the Hoodoo River with direct jet boat access to some of Alaska’s most consistent king and silver salmon runs, just a few miles from the salt—ideal for fresh, aggressive fish.
  • Remote and Pristine: One of the most untouched and exclusive lodges in Alaska, offering solitude, adventure, and exceptional fishing with minimal angling pressure.
  • Ideal Swing Water: Long gravel bars and perfectly structured runs create textbook swing water for both single and two-handed rods—perfect for targeting kings with 50–70 foot casts.
  • Beginner-Friendly: The fishing is incredibly accessible; you don’t need long casts or technical skill to connect with fish. Many pools are compact, fishy, and absolutely loaded.
  • Fly-Out Fishing: Daily fly-out options provide access to hidden coastal rivers and seldom-seen fisheries, where you’ll fish wild, unpressured waters against stunning backdrops.
  • Steelhead Potential: The lodge is within reach of the Sandy River, home to one of Alaska’s last great wild steelhead runs—a rare and special opportunity for steelhead anglers.

Topwater Silver Salmon: Hoodoo offers what many consider the best surface popper fishing for silver salmon anywhere in the world—fast, visual, and wildly fun.
