Feb 1 - June 8

Our Fly Casting + Half-Day Drift Trip is the perfect introduction to fly fishing for beginners and a great skill-building opportunity for developing anglers. Your experience includes five private casting lessons with a certified instructor, giving you a strong foundation in fly casting mechanics, line control, gear setup, and on-the-water fundamentals. Each session is hands-on, personalized, and designed to build confidence before you ever step into a drift boat.

Once you’ve built your casting skills, you’ll enjoy a half-day guided drift trip for two on the Lower Sacramento River. This scenic float lets you apply everything you’ve learned—reading water, presenting flies, mending, and safely landing wild rainbow trout. With expert instruction and all gear provided, you’ll walk away prepared to fish comfortably and invest in your own equipment with confidence.

Target Seasons & Species

The primary target on this trip is wild rainbow trout, which thrive in the Lower Sacramento River year-round. We run these packages  from late winter to late spring for the most consistent action. The Sacramento River provides year round action, though. The summer provides strong afternoon and evening fishing, and winter delivers steady opportunities thanks to the river’s dependable flows and rich food sources.

Where We Fish

The drift portion of the trip takes place on the Lower Sacramento River, one of California’s most productive year-round trout fisheries. This section of river is known for its healthy population of wild rainbows, varied structure, and long, fishable runs—making it an ideal classroom and an excellent place to refine your fly fishing skills.

Exact location will be decided right before your session, as it relies on weather and fishing conditions.
